Transition to New Blog

I decided to set up a new, primary photos and art blog where I can more easily interact with other photographers and artists. I will no longer be posting images to this secondary blog, but I’ll leave it here for historical purposes. Please join me at Photos & Art by Debi.

Thank you for following!

Californian Earth-cuckoo (a.k.a. Greater Roadrunner)

Fort Worth Zoo

Photo 1 [09 Dec 2012] Canon EOS Rebel T2i, 90mm, F/5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, manual exposure mode, shot through glass; Cropped from about 1/9 of the original image and auto-levelled in GIMP.

I like the way the shape and texture of the feathers play off the chain-link fence and the blurred background.

Photo 2 [15 Dec 2012] Canon EOS Rebel T2i, 200mm, F/8, 1/100 sec, ISO 800, manual exposure mode, shot through glass; Cropped from about 2/3 or the original image and auto-levelled in GIMP.

I love the texture of the feathers.

Roadrunners are very interesting to watch. They often raise and lower the long black feathers at the top back of their heads when they’re running around.

I call it “Mr. Spiky”.
[29 Dec 2012] They’re serious about not letting anyone in there.
Original image: Canon EOS Rebel T2i , 35mm, F5.6, 1/80 sec, ISO 100, manual exposure mode
GIMP: Auto-levelled and scaled down.

French Quarter Ironwork

[24 Dec 2012] I love the ironwork on the buildings in the French Quarter. The heron / egret on this door is really nice.

Zen Gargoyle

[24 Dec 2012] I saw this cool gargoyle (for lack of a better word) in a shop window in the New Orleans French Quarter and just had to snap some photos of it. I love the texture, the wrinkles, and the knobbiness. He looks so thoughtful and relaxed.
